Hair colour trends to try in 2026
From glazed cinnamon to soft copper, five colour looks Sri Lanka salons are booking most this year, and how to ask for them.
Every season has a colour that quietly takes over the appointment book. This year it's warmth. Coppers, cinnamons and honeyed brunettes have overtaken the cool ash tones that dominated 2024 and 2025. Here are five looks Sri Lanka salons are booking most, with the exact way to ask for each so nothing gets lost in translation at the mirror.
1. Glazed cinnamon
Warm reddish-brown with a subtle glossy overlay. Works on natural black hair without pre-lightening, so it's the lowest-commitment entry point into the warm-tone trend. Ask for “a cinnamon gloss over natural base, no lift”.
2. Soft copper
A step warmer and lighter than cinnamon. Requires a single-process lift on darker hair, so book a full colour appointment (90 min+) rather than a gloss. Bring a reference image; the range from muted peach to true copper is wide.
3. Honey balayage
Hand-painted lightened pieces in a warm honey tone, blended into a deeper root. Grows out beautifully, so you can go 3 to 4 months between touch-ups. Ideal if you want colour but hate the maintenance cycle.
4. Espresso brunette
Rich, near-black brown with warm undertones, the opposite of the blue-black look that was popular a couple of years ago. Salons often use a demi-permanent so the shift from your natural is subtle and low-damage.
5. Chestnut money-piece
Two brighter chestnut pieces framing the face against an otherwise untouched base. Fast (60 min), inexpensive relative to a full highlight, and instantly changes the shape of your face on camera.
Booking tips
Colour appointments are longer than you think. A gloss is 60 minutes, a full colour is 2 to 3 hours, and a balayage can be 3 to 4. Book late morning if you want to eat before, or first thing if you have plans after. Filter by service on GlamBook to find salons in Colombo, Kandy and Galle with the colour specialists you're looking for.
